OtterBox Honored as a “Great Place to Work” by Entrepreneur Magazine

OtterBox®, maker of premier protective solutions for mobile devices, was recognized as a premier workplace. The company landed at No. 22 on The Great Place to Work® Rankings: 2011 Best Medium Workplaces list presented by Entrepreneur® magazine.

OtterBox was selected among hundreds of companies vying for a place on the list this year. This annual list recognizes companies that have exceptional workplace cultures. In its eighth year, the competition is divided into two categories, Small (50-250 employees) and Medium (251-999 employees). Applicant companies participate in a selection process that includes an employee survey and an in-depth questionnaire about their programs and company practices. The Great Place to Work Institute evaluates each application using its unique methodology based on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

“I’ve often said that OtterBox is really in the people business,” said OtterBox CEO and Founder Curt Richardson. “It’s an honor to receive this recognition because much of it is based on how our employees feel about working here.”

Great Place to Work, creator of the list,  has found that employees believe they work for great organizations when they consistently trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with. OtterBox has a unique company culture that marries hard work and innovation with creativity and fun. In addition to great benefits such as profit-sharing and paid time off for volunteering, OtterBox employees also get to enjoy a state-of-the-art headquarters facility completed earlier this year in Fort Collins, Colo. The new building includes a free latte machine, fitness equipment, bike storage and repair room and a spiral slide.

“The companies featured on this year’s list are truly extraordinary in their practices and achievements,” said Susan Lucas-Conwell, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Their leaders recognize the value of creating great workplaces and the competitive edge it provides them.”

Organizations named on the list see many benefits that include better financial performance, less employee turnover, higher levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty, more innovative and creative thinking, higher productivity and enhanced public perception.
