Layer 2: Hi-impact, shatter resistant polycarbonate shell.

Layer 3: Durable silicone skin that locks into the polycarbonate shell to absorb bump and shock and give a smooth unified case.

“The key feature of the Defender Series is the protection from dirt and dust it provides,” Richardson said. “Silicone covers the camera button and volume, accessory and media keys. There are also flip-up plugs for the headset jack and USB/charge port that keep dust out to avoid interfering with device operation.”
