Through the barrage of golf tournaments and summer concerts, one event defied monotony like a mirage in the desert- the Otter Oasis on June 17, 2010. Hosted by OtterBox on the rooftop patio of their 101 Remington Street location in Old Town Fort Collins, Colo., the benefit party raised over $2,130 for the Poudre Valley Hospital ENGAGE in life Campaign and the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation. The company matched funds raised for a total donation of $4,260.
“We’re honored to be a 2010 Mission Level sponsor of the Poudre Valley Health System Foundation and to support the positive difference they are making in our community,” said Curt Richardson, OtterBox Founder and CEO. “OtterBox has been fortunate to experience growth and success and it’s important that we use that success to give back to Fort Collins and the surrounding communities that have supported us.”
The Otter Oasis event served both as a fundraiser as well as a kick-off to OtterBox’s presenting sponsorship of this year’s sixth annual Run for Hope, which also benefits the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation and the ENGAGE in life Campaign.
“The theme Otter Oasis was intended to highlight the motto of the Run for Hope, that ‘Life is a Journey, Not a Guided Tour,’” said OtterBox Community Relations Specialist Tricia Lemmer. “We wanted to stay true to the nature of the run itself and the cause that event founder Jeanne Lambert has worked so hard to bring awareness to.”
The event was topped off with cupcakes donated by local favorite, the Butter Cream Cupcakery.
“Generosity in action – that is the PVHS Foundation motto and is visibly echoed by OtterBox and its entire staff,” said Ruth Lytle-Barnaby, Executive Director of the Poudre Valley Health System Foundation. “OtterBox is our newest partner in health and the whole organization has opened its office and hearts to help make our community the healthiest place to live, work, and raise a family.”
