With a dream to someday own his own snowboard shop, Nick Fasano, recipient of the OtterBox Entrepreneurial Scholarship, is ready to expand his business knowledge at the University of Colorado in Boulder this fall.

“I was a little worried when I got called down to the office,” said Fasano. “But then when I found out I had won the scholarship I was really surprised and thankful. I put a lot of time into writing my essay and this is exactly what I wanted. It’s a dream scholarship!”

“So much of OtterBox is based on entrepreneurial spirit,” said OtterBox CEO, Curt Richardson. “It’s great to be able to fuel the entrepreneurial drive with this scholarship and foster future generations to generate new businesses.”

Fasano plans to use his $1,000 scholarship to study marketing or management at CU. He’d like to learn more about what motivates employees and remain true to the market he serves, something he believes OtterBox portrays.

“OtterBox is growing and it’s obvious they are in tune with their customers and what’s going on. I’d like my future company to have the same type of values, a local aspect and a friendly atmosphere,” explains Fasano.

Motivating fellow classmates at Fort Collins High School, passing AP calculus, working summers at new businesses, playing soccer and involvement in National Honors Society (NHS), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), Fasano has seen the benefit of working hard to reach his goals and plan for a successful future.

This is the third year OtterBox has awarded local Fort Collins students with the Entrepreneurial Scholarship. The company plans to continue in years to come and CEO Curt Richardson believes this scholarship is a great way to reward young entrepreneurs.
