OtterBox Stands Behind “Strength” with New Commitment to Fighting Breast Cancer

Following a one-year donation of more than $175,000, protective case maker OtterBox® once again renewed its commitment to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade with new pink-and-white case options to benefit the cause. Whether they are Apple® enthusiasts, Android™ addicts or BlackBerry boasters, OtterBox fans can show their support and show off their style with “Strength” Commuter Series® cases now for the Apple® iPhone® 4 and HTC EVO 3D or Blackberry® Torch™ 9810 and 9800 series smartphones, available soon.

“We remain committed in our fight against breast cancer,” said OtterBox CEO Curt Richardson. “The message of strength is one that is important to me, our employees and our customers, so we look forward to supporting the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade in its mission.”

From May 2010 through May 2011, OtterBox donated $179,072 to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade through the sales of its Commuter Series Strength cases for BlackBerry smartphones. Funds support cutting-edge research to find a cure for or prevent breast cancer as well as programs that enable all patients to access quality care, regardless of ability to pay.

“The Avon Foundation greatly appreciates OtterBox’s exceptional support of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade during the past year, as well as the enthusiastic commitment of OtterBox customers who bought a Strength Commuter Series® pink-and-white case. The life-saving funds OtterBox raised will help to support breast cancer research and access to care organizations across the United States,” said Carol Kurzig, president of the Avon Foundation for Women. “We’re thrilled that the release of these new cases will extend OtterBox’s generous commitment and continue its efforts to raise important funds to support the fight against breast cancer.”

This year, OtterBox will expand its Strength line to new devices with the hope of increasing its donation and helping to salute the strength demonstrated every day by those battling breast cancer.

It takes strength when the diagnosis is made. Strength to share the news with loved ones. Strength to endure treatments. Strength to keep moving forward. Strength to wait for test results. Strength to receive a clean bill of health. Strength to carry on. Strength to embrace the future. That is what OtterBox supports — the whole story — every moment of being human and carrying on in strength.

About the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade:

Since theAvon Breast Cancer Crusade launched in 1992, Avon breast cancer programs in more than 50 countries have raised almost $700 million for research and advancing access to care, regardless of a person’s ability to pay. The Avon Foundation for Women – the world’s largest corporate-affiliated philanthropy focused on issues that matter most to women – awards funding to beneficiaries ranging from leading cancer centers to community-based grassroots breast health programs to support breast cancer research and access to care. In addition to receiving generous support from Avon Products, Inc., and its sale of Avon “pink ribbon” products, the Foundation raises funds through a variety of events and walks, such as the U.S. Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series, which is the Foundation’s largest fund-raising source. The Foundation’s pioneering Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program funds education, awareness, prevention and direct service programs aimed at ending domestic and gender abuse and violence.
