Got Tech, Got Travel, Got Kids-Got a Recipe for Disaster

Jim Miller, Information Security Director for a large financial institution, is a technology guru. Name a device and he probably uses it. From a laptop computer to a BlackBerry and even an iPod, Miller is a fan of latest devices for both work and play.

With frequent travel and two little ones at home however, Miller's technology doesn't stand a chance. That's why he needed an OtterBox.

"For a little over a year, I've used the OtterBox Rugged Laptop Carrying Case for travel and vacations," Miller explains. "I can travel with the kids and not worry about spills or store my laptop in the overhead bin and know that the hard shell keeps it safe."

Immediately after receiving the case, the OtterBox was put to the test when Miller's 3-year-old pulled it off the table. As the case and laptop crashed to the floor, Miller was nervous it did not survive, especially since the shock-absorbing, Velcro bumpers were not yet in place. But when he opened the case, the laptop was in mint condition.

"Stuff just gets banged around during travel and with my busy lifestyle. Soft cases and backpacks don't offer the same protection as an OtterBox. On a recent trip to India, I actually broke my digital camera, had it been in an OtterBox I'm sure it wouldn't have happened," said Miller.

Miller found the OtterBox online. Comparing it to other case manufactures such as Targus® and Samsonite, he felt the OtterBox Laptop Case offered the most protection and the internal bumpers could be adjusted to fit his current or future laptops.

Additionally, Miller found a rugged laptop device was too heavy and expensive. With the OtterBox case, he can use a standard laptop and transform it into a rugged one.

"I didn't want a laptop that looked like a case, I like having the freedom to shed the case and use the laptop alone or remove the back plug to use my power cord to charge my laptop as I use it through the case."

Overall Miller is extremely impressed with the OtterBox and will soon be adding the OtterBox 1930 BlackBerry case for his 8700 Series and the OtterBox for iPod video case to his rugged case collection.

"You just don't see stuff like this, it's unique," says Miller.
