Recognizing Entrepreneurial Drive: OtterBox Awards College-Bound Senior

Otter Products, LLC. awards a $1,000 entrepreneurial scholarship to Fort Collins High School senior, Molly Dunkle. At just 17-years-old, Dunkle excels in academics and has already started her own business called Sweets Cosmetics, selling products in 10 stores around the area. Her entrepreneurial spirit and drive for success naturally made her the top candidate.

"Over the past couple years, my wife Nancy and I have bounced around the idea of how to give back to the Fort Collins community," said Curt Richardson, CEO of Otter Products, LLC. "Because entrepreneurial drive is the backbone of our company, we wanted to encourage that gift in local students."

OtterBox put together a $1,000 scholarship for one deserving Colorado State University bound student. With four surrounding high schools, Nancy Richardson organized a scholarship board to sort through all the applications.

"It was amazing how many people applied," said Curt Richardson. "This is something we definitely want to promote because entrepreneurial drive creates jobs and success in our community."

Dunkle made a lasting impression on the board and OtterBox presented her with the scholarship certificate and flowers during her marketing class.

"I saw everyone walking in and thought you were there for teacher appreciation with the flowers. Then I saw something about OtterBox and I had an idea it was for me. I turned bright red," said Dunkle. "It was fun hearing you all talk about me and my business because most of my class doesn't know what I do in my spare time."

"I plan to use my scholarship to help pay for college," explains Dunkle. "I thought that I could really relate to this one, especially after starting a business."

OtterBox plans to continue the entrepreneurial scholarship award each year with the hopes to increase the number of awards and amounts, as well as offer internship opportunities to winners.

"This is a great way to invest in future business leaders in Fort Collins," said Curt Richardson.
